Yep! I went there!! But with the major motion picture Wonder Woman releasing in just over a week, the question had to be asked! Are you a Marvel or D.C. fan?
It’s no secret that these two universes have long fought for ultimate control over the geekdom that makes up the comicbook/superhero world.
While Marvel totes Stan Lee as their Commander-in-Chief, they lay claim to some of the most iconic heroes of all time: Black Widow, Spiderman, Captain America, Hulk, Thor and Wolverine, just to name a few. Heck they’ve got the entire Avengers, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy and Fantastic Four crews to their credit.
But D.C. has just as much superpower with their cast. I mean, who can deny Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and The Flash all have serious chops in the superhero world? Not to mention the Amazonian woman referenced above? And D.C. also has the Justice League, Suicide Squad and Watchmen, among other teams on their side.
It’s clear that both of these geekdoms have bragging rights on all levels. But where does your alliance fall? For me, I prefer Marvel. Yes, it has everything to do with the fact that more Marvel movies have gotten it “right” compared to the D.C. films. And maybe this doesn’t make me a true geek, since I don’t read the comics. But it’s where I side, so that’s that.
What about you? Do you favor one universe over the other? Which one and why? Please share below so we can get chatting!!

I pick Marvel! I think they have better stories and present them better as well.
Agreed! ☺️
Mmm.I really enjoy DC comics … but I love the MARVEL movies … (I feel almost biased, though, because I’m watching GOTHAM and loving it!) It’s quite hard to say, since I’m only a newbie in the geek world… 😉
Yes, and maybe that’s why I’m not as hooked on D.C. I don’t watch any shows on TV! Otherwise I’d spend all my time on TV and none writing! 😂 But I’ve heard some of those shows are really good.
I don’t usually watch a lot of TV, but I was home alone a while ago, and I saw GOTHAM on Netflix… 😉
Oh Netflix! That’s how I watch my shows too. ☺️ That and Amazon. I always get a little sad once I’m done all the seasons of a show–sort of like finishing a good book. 😂 But I inevitably find another to watch! 😜
Yes – definitely! (We only have Amazon and Netflix – but I can’t figure out how to work our TV. 😉 )
I agree. While I like the darkness surrounding DC movies, the innate crappiness of some of their new movies and their inability to form a shared universe like Marvel in time made me turn to the light side. As I said in the article about this on my blog (https://shadow-squadron.com/2017/02/18/marvel-vs-dc/), Justice League and the following movies might change that, but for the moment Marvel has a strong lead.
Yes, we will see. DC did get Wonder Woman right, very glad for that! But Justice League will be the real indicator, I think. We’ll see if they can figure out how to give Marvel some competition!
